How to Donate
The MOST depends on contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations to continue its goal of providing first-rate, hands-on science and technology education and entertainment for people of all ages. Please support the MOST generously.
Information About the Charitable IRA Rollover - back to top Time is running out, but you can still use the Charitable IRA Rollover in 2010 to support the MOST. If you are 70-1/2 and older, you can make a tax-free charitable gift to the MOST totaling up to $100,000 per year from IRAs and Roth IRAs. The gift also counts toward your required distribution for the year and is allowed even if you have reached your tax-deductible charitable giving limit. You must act before the end of 2010. Interested? Contact the MOST’s Executive VP Tony Ortega at 315.425.9068 x2120 or aortega@most.org. Information About Empire Zone Tax Credits (EZ Credits) - back to top As a tourist destination and an educational destination for families and school groups, the MOST is an entertainment center anchoring Armory Square…and it’s a business catalyst and community center bringing scientists, engineers, business leaders and entrepreneurs together with university researchers and teachers. It combines the best of science, education, business and entertainment in downtown Syracuse. In fact, we estimate that the revitalized MOST will generate over six million dollars of spending annually for the Syracuse community, in restaurants, services, gift shops, gas stations, parking and recreational activities. In light of all this, the MOST has applied for and received a $750,000 dollar Empire Zone Tax Credit allocation from “Rebuild Syracuse, Inc.” and $250,000 dollar Empire Zone Tax Credit allocation from Onondaga County. Empire Zone credits will leverage about $4 million dollars in contributions to the “Making More of the MOST” campaign. Here’s what the matching grant and empire zone credits mean to all of us. To take an example…. When an individual or corporation donates $100,000
to the capital campaign, the donor can receive a $25,000 reduction in his/her
NY State Income Taxes that year. And that $25,000 tax credit is in addition to
the normal state and federal deductions for charitable contributions! Furthermore,
with our matching grant, that gift will generate a total of $200,000 dollars
for the MOST! What a great win-win opportunity! Matching Grant - back to top The MOST has a $3 million dollar matching grant from a very generous corporate donor who has asked to remain anonymous. For every dollar donated to the MOST’s Capital Campaign, there will be a matching dollar, which will go to the museum’s mortgage reduction. This very large matching grant significantly strengthens our overall financial
situation. It not only reduces the principal on our mortgage, but it also provides
the immediate benefit of reducing the amount of interest due each month by about
forty percent. And it provides dramatic incentive for the community to support
our Capital Campaign! "I want to mail a check." - back to top Make it out to MOST Foundation with "Capital Campaign" in the memo field, and mail to: Tony Ortega For all giving inquiries, Click here to contact Tony Ortega, Executive VP MOST Foundation or call him at (315) 425-9068 x2120.
