Onondaga Grown presents GROW
Agricultural Science and Food Systems in Central New York
NOW OPEN!
Meeting our community’s food needs in the present without impairing future generations from meeting their own relies on both scientific innovation and sustainable agricultural practices. From farmers and food distributors to scientists and shoppers, everyone has an important role to play in ensuring the sustainability of our region’s natural resources and the health of its communities.
Explore the concept and practice of sustainable agriculture through interactive displays on agricultural science and technology, environmentally conscious food production and distribution in communities, and approaches to buying food and disposing of waste.
Featured in this exhibit are many regional food producers, legislators, innovators, and communities who are working together to develop more sustainable agricultural practices, policies, and technologies in our region.
- Six-stall farmer’s market where visitors can “buy” apples, corn, eggs, maple and dairy products along with seasonal items. Instead of a currency check-out, scanning the items will bring up food and nutrition information.
- Tractor and trailer photo opportunity where visitors learn about food distribution.
- Tactile crop field showcasing the “three sisters”—beans, corn, and squash—which originated in our Indigenous communities.
- In summer 2025, the GROW agricultural technology feature will open, with an ag tech control room, dairy product interactive story station, and a “Farmbot” that explores how technology assists farmers.
